Philip Kan Gotanda ..writer ..director ..executive producer
  Philip Kan Gotanda's film have included the short, THE KISS, 16mm black and white dramatic about a eccentric nine to five working stiff who on his lunch break, saves a man who is suffering from AIDS, from choking to death. It was ahown at 1994 Sundance, SF Int'l Film Festival (Golden Gate Award), Berlin Festival and shown nationally on PBS. His 30 minute, 16mm color dramatic, DRINKING TEA, was shown at the 1996 Sundance and also nationally on PBS. He was a Sundance Film Fellow in 1998 where he studied screenwriting and film production. He is also the screenwriter for the feature, THE WASH, produced by American Playhouse and released by Skouras.
  Mr. Gotanda is also an award-winning playwright whose works have received national and international attention. His plays have been produced at the Mark Taper Forum, The Manhattan Theater Club, Playwright's Horizons, The Berkeley Repertory Theater Seattle Repertory Theatre, The Huntington Theater, San Jose Rep as well as The Gate, in co-production with the National Theater in London. His plays have also been produced in Toronto and in Tokyo. His plays include Yohen (starring Danny Glover), The Wash, Sisters Matsumoto, Ballad of Yachiyo, Yankee Dawg You Die, Dream of Kitamura and other plays.
 
His writing awards include the 1996 Pen/West Award, The Lila Wallace Reader's Digest Award, The TCG National Artist Award, NEA Artist Grants, Rockefeller Artist Awards, Music Center Distinguished Artist Award among others.
